Any driver who obtained their LGV licence before September 2009 who wants to drive for a living MUST complete Periodic Training, professional drivers can be fined for not completing the required hours.
If you obtained your LGV licence AFTER September 2009 you have 5 years to complete 35 hours of periodic training from the date of completion of Driver CPC Initial Qualification.
You now have the choice of whether to complete National or International CPC Training.
If you’re only driving HGVs professionally in the UK, you can benefit from shorter training blocks, more flexibility and remote learning with National CPC training.
International CPC training requires you to complete your training on consecutive days, but it gives you the option to work in the EU in the future.
Our Direct Access course* not only counts as 14 hours towards your 35-hour requirement but also works as a recruitment tool, providing a certificate of competence plus accreditation for your CV.
If you would like to speak to an adviser about available options for your Periodic Training, please call us on
0808 168 5255 and we’ll run through all the options and prices with you.
* We work with a select group of approved Driver CPC training providers, to deliver training including Surry & Hampshire Training Ltd (AC01244), SLB Driver CPC Ltd (AC02455), and Enterprise Transport Training Ltd(AC02152).
