Beyond improving the skills of Birmingham’s newest recruits, this legislation ensures the city’s seasoned drivers stay sharp on busy routes like the Spaghetti Junction and the M6 corridor.
By keeping skill sets current, we see a direct boost to road safety across the West Midlands, better working conditions for local hauliers, and increased accountability for Birmingham-based operators, adding professional prestige to a vital regional career.
CPC courses are mandatory for almost every driver holding a C1 licence in the city. There are two main paths: the Initial CPC, which is built into your local HGV training, and Periodic CPC Training, required every five years to keep you on the road. This applies to anyone driving HGVs for “hire and reward” throughout Birmingham and the surrounding Black Country.
